The Naya River is Afro-Colombian territory that divides the departments of Valle de Cauca (on the left) and Cauca (on the right). We began our accompaniment at the Buenaventura port and after a two hour boat trip along the sea we arrived to Puerto Merizalde, the main village of the Naya River. On this trip we accompanied members of the Inter-church Peace and Justice Commission (CIJP) in their work with leaders from the Naya River Community Council, to show the international support for the collective initiative which began in the 80s. At the end of the 80s the Naya River Community Council (CC) was established. The CC requested collective land titles in 1999.
